About Grape Secrets

The philosophy of Grape Secrets is to unlock the secrets that grapes hold and demystify wine through education, wine-appreciation and fostering curiosity of the wines of the world.
Grape Secrets is an approved programme provider of the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) offering wine certifications for Levels 1, 2 and 3 for professionals working in the wine industry and for wine aficionados who want to engross themselves in the world of wine.

We help you to develop a fine palate and learn to appreciate all wine styles by using the Systematic Approach of Tasting wine (SAT). This structured approach is designed to enlighten you about the secrets of the grape and how all aspects such as terroir, the winemaker and the cellar play a role in the final product.

The world of wine is fascinating. Each fruit requires five things to thrive: sunlight, warmth, water, carbon dioxide and nutrients. Even then, each grape will give you a different aroma and flavour as a result. Grape Secrets will help you to discover your passion and curiosity for wine allowing you to unlock the endless secrets of grapes.

About Me

Núria Frau Trullėn DipWSET

I have been surrounded by wine for most of my life and becoming a Sommelier was my destiny.

I grew up in Germany where my family ran a wine shop in a famous wine region. Being of Spanish origin, food & wine was a big part of my cultural upbringing, which led me to explore the world of wine in the most celebrated gastronomic capitals of the world: Paris, London, New York, Berlin, and Barcelona. I trained and worked primarily in Michelin starred restaurants including the renowned Alain Ducasse and Jean Luis Neichel, allowing me to further develop my knowledge of pairing wine with a variety of cuisines and creating a memorable experience for discerning palates. While living in London I transitioned from from Sommelier to selling wines to some of the best restaurants in the city.

Inspired by a love for wine and a growing desire to gain additional certification, I trained at the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) in London up to the Diploma level in Wines & Spirits which I received in 2009.

In the same year, I moved to Dubai where I joined the wine sales team of African & Eastern. This is where I developed my passion for teaching and training about wine, as part of my role was to deliver WSET levels 1, 2 and 3 to hotel team as well as the consumer market.

In 2014 I decided to make teaching wine my full time job by becoming a WSET Certified Educator followed by an Approved Program Provider accreditation. My passion is to pass on my knowledge to fellow wine enthusiasts. Having trained thousands of people and helping them develop their passion for wine, building their knowledge and confidence on the subject gives me immense satisfaction.

Núria is a very knowledgeable and friendly instructor and has an exceptional palate. Everyone in our class felt extremely lucky to have her as our teacher. Thanks to her I could get a distinction in WSET levels 2 and 3!
